This is a question regarding the new restrictions. Had enough of them yet?
Let's say I head over in two weeks (Nov. 21-25ish) to look for a job. Even if i bring over all the documents including the police check, will I have to come back to the U.S. to get my E-2 when I find a job anyways?
If so, that would piss me off, cause I've been relying on recruiters for the past month to find me a job, unsuccessfully, and finally decided I want to head over myself. Talk about bad timing! |

I was in discussions with people from EPIK and they were telling me to go over to Japan next year, so I assume you can just do the run to Fukuoka or Tokyo etc. |

i don't think the new visa regulations start until december, so u should be ok just doing a visa run to japan or china after u find a job when you're here. u might want to call the korean consulate in your country and just make sure before u come though!
your recruiters aren't having any luck???
edit: although, that all depends on how fast u find a job once you're here and apply for your E-2...might be close |

well, i was getting job offers from the recruiters, but they were for places like Kids Club and SLP...not so good. The timing is what I'm concerned about, I would be cutting it very close coming when I'm looking to.
My consulate didn't even know about the new regulations when I called them. |

Unfortunately for EPIK, they are not in charge of processing visas. If Immigration will not allow a Japan run for the visa, then going to Fukuoka will do nothing to help regardless of EPIK's desires or intentions. |

I'm in the same boat. I was going to get a new job in January, but seeing the new regulations hit the fan I have cut short my holiday and flown into Korea in the hope of getting in before the axe. Recruiters seem to be remarkably sluggish right now though, almost as iof they're waiting until december before they sign any new people. I may just get a crap*y hogwon position quickly to buy me some time- knowing that all the documents are going to take too long to arrive. |
