I work for a Bambini school that has decided to leave the franchise. My contract expires in May as does my friends. Three other teachers contracts expire in Feburary. They will make the switch to another franchise (Encore?) according to them in Feb or March.
When they make this change do they have to honor my contract anymore? Will I be subject to a new contract?
Also, what does this mean with the new E2 visa rules? Will we have to fly home to switch schools (same location but different name/company). None of us have been here longer than 9 months but will have been in Feb/March.
Do they still have to pay our severance and flight home?
What are your thoughts, suggestions? |

We're all friends here (The American teachers). The owner of this chain of the franchise signed the contract. But the branch we work at is leaving the franchise.
All the teachers I think have decided we will ask them to get in writing and notarized that our flight, bonus, salary and contractual obligation will be honored under the new franchise.
My worry is that come December, none of us have nine months. Then they do some crazy crap like lower our pay, increase hours, etc.
Then if we quit we have to go back to America on our own dime, etc. Do all the new visa stuff. Some teachers/friends aren't in a financial position to do that. |

Why not? If people are too stupid to save anything over 8 months then they deserve the head kick. As to the question...you could be screwed because they will want to make a new contract. The person who got you your visa is legally responsible for you and they may want to cancel that responsibility which could mean you need to make a new contract. Make sure the new contract has the details and GET A COPY WHEN YOU SIGN IT. Schools sometimes change a contract before they give it to immigration. |

Well, one has been paying off all his debts.
I am doing such as well.
We could afford a plane ticket home probably. On say, a day's notice. Not much more though. Not everyone can come here and save a ton. My goal was to get debt (interest gaining debt) free. Then save my second year. So I have enough for emergencies and the rest goes to paying off my debt. |
