Selling a Wiconavi (made by Daewoo, DPN7000 I believe) Navigation+GPS system. I've had it for one year. It works perfectly. Saved me many times driving in Korea. Has regular updates from Daewoo. Software includes a range of options (i.e. popular destinations, menu to stylize screen output, etc, etc). English input, English maps, English driving instruction (vocal). Will tell you when and where to go, turn, stop, etc, as well as speed cautions (i.e. cameras) and road dangers.
I'm selling it because we're heading out of the country and I no longer need it.
I paid 515,000 for the unit plus and extra 20,000 for a 'good' windshield anchor for it. I'll let it go for 400,000. Of couse, as with all negotiations, make me a reasonable offer.
Thanks |

I have the same model. It's great.
I haven't updated it, though - is it difficult to do? |

First, I'm in Busan, but obviously with it's size, it can be shipped cheaply anywhere.
Second, updating isn't hard. Just remove the Compact flash card, put it into a card reader, format the card, and upload the upgrade. You can contact the vendor if you'd like to receive the upgrade file. He emailed it out to me.
Third, almost none of these units are in English. This and one other are the only ones I found and this was much better (i.e. size, options). As for using them outside of Korea, you get into problems with map software and screen size (i.e. in North America, they are much smaller). Also, there may be some hardware compatibility issues. You always hear of the 'person' who successfully did this, but frankly, the reason I am selling this is because we are leaving. |

Tegu,
Thanks for your input. Does that unit look to you like it's in English? Perhaps that's what is increasing the price. This info really means nothing but thanks. |

I am not usually one to jump on these threads, but since I just bought a gps unit, I thought I could put in my two cents.
Finding a GPS in English is not difficult. Navigation systems in Korea are light years cheaper than those in the u.s. I paid 525,000 at best buy for mine in the states and I just bought one here, with English t.v. and a lot of bells and whistles, for 290,000 at Yongsan.
That said, I don't the type the seller is selling, so maybe it is worth the extra money, I dont know.
I will check the name and unit number when I get back to Seoul |

I think tegu's info is extremely useful.
It's selling NEW for 399KWon. How can you think of asking more than that for a used one? Getting English is as simple as going into the settings and selecting "English". |

Actually, for most of the Korean navi units, there is no option for English and you need new maps and software for it to support English service. |

I'd be shocked if it did. Yes, they are the same model, but the company I bought it from formats the original OS and maps and reloads the English OS and maps. They actually set it up and service it from there. I know for a fact that I don't have an option for Korean on mine.
This model was designed (after market I presume) to be an English only navigation.
So, unless you can prove that this model will switch from Korean (as shown on the site) to Korean, then perhaps we can let this rest. We agree that they are the same model; however, one is Korean and one is English.
Frankly, this shouldn't be surprising. Almost all Korean navigation units on the market here (except those that are 'redone' in Yongsan) are strictly Korean. I looked for a long time before finally finding this one, and I simply couldn't find one that was in English.
Regardless, I'm still selling it. If you or anyone would like to offer something, then I would be glad to consider it. Otherwise, this banter back and forth really is useless and unnecessarily time consuming. |

just my two cents.
seems to me that since it is ONLY in korean, then it should be worth less than the models that come with english, no? (unless u want the korean model which then doesn't make sense posting it here...) |

i'm interested in this unit. I checked with the company on the link higher up and the model from them is only available in korean. I am interested in how you found one that is totally in english and you can still get updates in english for it. The above company does not know anything about this possibility.
( When I say 'I' checked, I mean my korean assistant so all discussions were in korean)
But if it is all working like you say I'll offer 340,000won
