In other words: Brits. So Brits piss you off then. After moving pictures were invented, Americans started calling them 'movies' for short, while the Brits shortened it to 'pictures.'
And what pisses me off? People who are intolerant of other dialects than their own. |

I once dated a guy who had no idea whom Anne Frank was. My biggest regret from said relationship is having not bitten down to prevent him from breeding.
Uncultured morons piss me off. The thought that they're almost certainly going to produce more offspring than those of us who have actually read a freakin book before pisses me off even more.. Stop fornicating and read books, brutes! Books! |
Who the hell is Anne Frank?
Oh, things that piss me off... Vegetable trucks, bad driving, banks, embassy staff, long-winded stories, incompetence and lack of consideration. |

French roommates that use up all your toilet paper, soap, shampoo, and then never replace those items. I even have to hide my toothbrushes and towels! |

The things that piss me off:
#1 Very young male students who pull their pants down, show their genitals to disgust you out of rebellion, and then maybe pisses in the floor. I had this sort of thing happen twice and went on a war path of yelling and slamming desks. I yell, make them pull their pants up, and remove them from the classroom immediately. (this one makes me lose my temper big time as it's intended to be a very rebelious offense against the teacher, but it's a rare event that is a real shocker.)
#2 Students who don't listen to my request to put a cell phone away and then you catch them 10 minutes later shooting pictures and/or video. You then take it away, tell them they will get it at the end of class, they throw a major fit and run to the director for help to get their phone back who then comes to the classroom to get the phone returned back to the student. I will not tolerate any student in class photographing or shooting video since they might edit it to make a fool out of me, but I don't care about CCTV and adults using cameras. (again, I go ballistic about repeated cell phone use of any sort)
#3 That one kindergarten student who is a special student with a brain disorder of some sort who can't stay seated, is ultra hyper, can't think, has no self control, requires all your attention to see he is safe at all times, punches all his classmates, destroys any chance of there being a conducive learning environment, and then throws fits as he curls up in the fetal position when you try to correct him or anything. He needs to be in a special kind of class that I am not qualified to teach; one that hagwons do not specialize in such as a very small class learning disability class.
#4 Anyone who lies to me.
#5 Anyone looking to take advantage of me in an unfair manner of any sort.
#6 Any student who fails repeatably to listen to me and then just keeps talking and talking in Korean. A student who says, "No!," or, "Why?," when I tell them to do something such as sit down or stand in the corner.
#6 Drivers who drive so dangerously fast on small streets without sidewalks, you are required to pull evasive stunt moves to avoid getting killed or busted up.
#6 Anyone looking to make me fail just because they don't like who I am when they see me despite not knowing anything about me other than the qualities our physical appearance reveals.
All these sorts of annoyances can happen anywhere you are; not just Korea.
Well folks, that's my Friday night rant for this week. Thanks for reading. LOL. |

No, actually, I wasn't refering to Brits. (But now that you mention it . . . ) There was a talk show on in the mornings when I was in college, sort of like Siskel and Ebert but on PBS or A&E (don't remember). It, plus their approach to the new motion pictures they were reviewing, made the show feel old-timey and dismissive. It has nothing to do with dialects, any more than my swipe at "veggie"-sayers. Relax, you've had a rough day. |

| cell phone problem is easy enought to solve-have a box out at beginning of class-if they don't give it up right away, pushups, lunch detention, whatever-I found that having to copy out vocabulary 6 times when they were on the way to lunch was a more than effective deterrent |

Isn't it redundant to have a "things that piss you off" thread on this website? That's all 95% of the discussions are about!
Cheers to the other 5%. |

The misuse of the following words: who, whom, I, me, and myself.
The glorification of a fake history of the southern part of the US.
The abuse of animals in the quest for stamina. |
