Since its inception, KNC Hyun Jae Language School has been docking foreign teachers pay for Unemployment Insurance for years. This was not the schools direct intent, yet they were entrapped in an insurance scam that did not benefit the foreign teacher at all. One teacher who asked the management said that management told them that, the money was sent to their home country and that this was in the agreement between their home country and Korea.
Rule #1: If you get fired, the hag won closes, or you quit; you are screwed. You have to either get a new job in 10 business days or leave Korea. There is no such thing as Unemployment Insurance for foreigners in Korea.
So, the Canadians and Americans were told on 10/08/2007 that they would be reimbursed for what they paid into said fund that does not exist.
So, what about the other teachers who have paid this fee for a year or more that are no longer teachers at KNC Hyun Jae? If you are still in Korea, call KNC to get your refund.
Their telephone number is 02) 2644-4176 |

That's good news and all, but I just can't see myself letting them ever get away with that in the first place. I'd be up and down one side of them and the other. I'd come right out and say, "You're stealing that money from me and I want it back and for you to stop deducting it." Wonder what else they scammed out of you.
Sending it to you home country. Cheese and rice. |

If you did not voluntarily sign up for the unemployment insurance, then it's illegal for them to take your money to pay for it.
Yes, I do know how much weight that carries in the reality of hagweon employment in this country. |
