robbed recently ...but anyway, if your winxp setup CDs and office CDs get stolen, and you've already installed in on your computer, what will happen when they install the CDs onto their computers? Does my original copy become invalid? I had to buy Winxp separately, so the keys are in the cases... |

Report the theft to Microsoft.
They'll know what to do. They'll probably invalidate your old key and give you a new one...or something like that. |

Nope. They will not do anything because they can't verify it is really you. If you registered then they know you are windows registered user...the cd keys are gone. I had my CD's stolen long ago and microsoft did nothing. Call them and see.. |

The CD itself is not a danger, its if they got the CD-KEY thats the issue. You can install from any CD, MS does not care about that, but what they do care about is the CD-KEY.
So if they got the CD-Key then yes you most likely will have a problem, unless you already activated your cd-key enough times so they will not be able to. |

I have proof of purchase of the keys. And I already installed and registered the keys, so...but yes. they have the CDs and CD keys. I got a email from MS saying "I understand you are looking for replacement CDs. Please call 1-888-something to order them. " generic email from india. bleh... I'll let yall kno how it ends up for future reference. |
