"The CRIA threatened the company renting the servers to us, and because of this it is not possible to keep the site online. Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for your understanding."

I really, really hope they get back online. Demonoid has been by far the best torrent tracker so far.

That makes 2 of us. And me with a ratio over 5 too (over 500 gigs uploaded).

http://www.ilovetorrents.com/ is on-line and still taking signups (currently about 40,000 users).

Not as good as demonoid but growing steadily and decent speeds.

Damn!

And I only had Demonoid for a week or so - just got invited!

How long does it usually shut down for - or does it look permanent?

It was shut down once, opened again, shut down a second time. I'm thinking the guy might be giving up the ghost.

he was hosting demonoid in the netherlands when he got shut down. then moved the server to canada. he got a legal threat and stopped providing service to canadian users (but kept the site going for the rest of the world) ... now he's gone again.

i might go to cuba and talk to castro ... i'm sure i could convince him to make cuba a haven for torrent and p2p server hosting.

Is this affecting other torrent sites?

I don't know much about how torrents work but ever since i saw this news i am having trouble downloading any torrents from Scene HD, UK Nova, Mininova etc etc.

I just get 'Waiting to scrape' and then 'Scrape OK' but then nothing happens.....

They don't allow any of the newer utorrent builds. Their list of approved torrent clients is insanely restrictive.

For tv i have found the best to be http://www.eztv.it/frontpage.php and I still don't have a good movie one yet. Can some body recommend one? (prefer public as I am on a 7.6mb / 128 kb connection with a smallish datacap, so while I would like to share but...)

I'm close to three times that, so I was pissed. Still, I don't see why he can't move it over to where thepiratebay is hosted. Sweden? No, Netherlands.

I'm a mininova user for the most part. and EZTV. I only used demonoid to get full seasons of stuff. I'm not worried. I assume he'll be back in 2 weeks or so. Who knows, maybe thrid times the charm and he's gone for good.
