I had an idea that you can make a metal box like thing and set it on top of your gas range since gas ovens employ a similar fire on the bottom side.

Have any of you seen such a thing or done this?

Make your own oven? Would it not be a lot less trouble to just buy a stove?

Sounds like it would get really hot on the outside. Also you'd have to make a door or something for the front. It just seems dangerous in general, though I am not sure exactly why.

I say buy a toaster oven.

A stove with an oven is very expensive and I don't have a place to properly fit one in. It's the same in many tiny studio apartments in other countries too.
