I have read threads and threads on "new visas". What about the old clause that visas can be transferred? Is that still active? Or, if people change jobs, you will still have to leave and jump through the same hoops as a new person? |

Really good question.
I was wondering about that myself... |

My impression is that those of us here who want to change jobs at the end of our contracts will have to go home and start all over. Every time we change jobs.
I could be wrong, and hope I am, but that is what I think is happening. |

Those new regs will crash everything. Even now its a big deal just taking a Monday off for a Japan run. The K's can't handle it. The schools will close for a month and then they'll just close. A flight to the US during summer costs
$3000 if you can get one. Visa run Hawaii?!
The industry here is just wrong, its just too pigged and bloated and exists by the Koreans own poor and judgment. Its a good thing for us they don't look outside often so they can see how in relative terms they are out of align with the international industry norms of money, time and expense. |

I would assume yes. The way I read it, it applied to all new visas, not new people. |

We don't know. We might even get lucky and not have to leave the country AT ALL to renew contracts.
Seriously. Just wait and see. |

It'll probably be Guam.
Yeah, the travel requirement is pretty much BS. We'll see how it plays out. |

Logic? Why did they take away the Visa Run to Japan?
Maybe someone somewhere is going to make a pile of money. |

I hope they force me to leave on a non-legal matter/job requiement vs convicted of a crime/sexual harassment claim/adulty/having sex with a married woman when it really didn't happen, maybe like the "Italian Stalion Chef."

I haven't been back home in the 4+ years I've been here, I would very much like to go back. And, I've pretty much always thought that when I do leave, I ain't coming back! |

i hope all of you planning to get your visa in guam also went to University there, because you can only apostilize your diploma in the state where you received your degree from. on a positive note, i bet no english teachers in korea have ever been arrested there, so your local police check should be squeaky clean. |
I've been convicted of a criminal offense here in Korea and my record check is still clean(Yep, I went to the cop shop to get it too). Go figure. Ha, Ha Ha!!! |

No, it's more like someone ain't going to make a pile. That'd be JAPAN, and that won't sadden the Korean gov't at all. |
