Is Korean music the most boring in the world?

What do YOU think?

Boring isn't really the word. Crappy is more like it. Nevertheless, while Korean music does suck really hard, there is worse out there (go to SE Asia and see).

It doesn't come close to Thai music.

There is good Korean music out there. Just as with every country, mainstrean music is brain food for those who don't understand the art of music, and just listen to words.

I've never been fond of pop music, but that's probably because my music tastes are so much different from most peoples.

As far as American music goes, I'll listen to garage bands from the 60s, and listen to some 1980s heavy metal once in a while.

As far as foreign music goes, I'll listen to Soviet parade music or Arab music. Some of the North Korean parade music is good, especially the cartoon music.

Now, I haven't listened to all of Asia's music. But I simply do not like the Karaoke music that the South Korean TV stations play. North Korean Karaoke music isn't good either.

You should listen to the Sublime Frequencies label. They have some real good Thai music.

Listening to words isn't enough. People don't understand half of what they listen to. I remember when Extreme came out with "More Than Words" and so many people around me gushed about what a romantic song it was. Hello? It's NOT a romantic song. It's a guy telling his girlfriend he doesn't want her to say "I :ove You" and to just shut up and *beep* him. People are too busy memorizing the lyrics and not hearing what they say.

That's just one reason I like foreign music... I can enjoy the melody and rhythm and such without the baggage that comes with the lyrics.

For me, I enjoy a song not because of the words, but because of the melody, the emotion, the beat, all depending on the type of song or mood I'm in. Only sometimes does the words of a song capture me. Usually it doesn't matter what the words are, because it's all about the emotion and harmony of the song coming together.

I voted, "other," since the previous post about 7 hours ago had Antactica listed and I chose that. I noticed the post was removed as soon as I voted, "Antactica." I know it's spelled wrong, but the previous post asking if Korean music was the most boring had it spelled like this.

Korea music is not the most boring, Antactica music is since no such thing exists. LOL

Yeah, most Thai music is god awful. Some of the traditional melo folk kinda stuff is passable (barely), but pretty well anything on the pop charts, or that Thai people sing at karaoke, is utter crap. It's perhaps the worst pop music I've ever heard anywhere on earth (and I've heard a lot). It sucks.

Also, most of the mainstream music I've heard from the PRC is so bad that it's embarrassing to listen to... worse than Korean crap for sure.

May I suggest a little band from around here called Galaxy Express? A garage-y Korean band that is, by far, my favorite Korean band. They're playing on December 8th at a charity show.
