You know....the more I complain about the lack of bargaining power I think foreigners might have, I honestly "might" be wrong....

By that, I mean that if a person makes an honest effort in their job and like the conditions of the place, I think the skies the limit. However, I feel that won't be true for ALL teachers (there are some really scummy types out there as well as for crummy schools too).

Again, a wait-and-see attitude is essential at this stage of things.
I will just sit back and wait to see how things play out a few years from now and how all this will fit into the scheme of things to come....

I still have a few years before I make my way back to Korea in the first place.....

I think the E2 numbers in 2008 might actually go up.
The economy is so terrible in the States and in many of the seven are graduates seeking employment for reasonable pay.
Numbers of current E2 holders not renewing visas may decline but there will still be a boom of new entrants.

Perhaps that is the real "logic" at play here. They are hoping new blood will push out all the "dead wood". (like me Shocked )

If they want it within the last 6 months, I have been HERE for the last six+ months, so how exactly would my police check have changed since I got it last? (obviously rhetorical... my transcripts have not changed in 15 years, yet they ask for them repeatedly--and they have to be no older the 3 months old Rolling Eyes )

(1) But how are some people going to prove that they didn't go back home on a break and get busted for soliciting a prostitutue? That's a crime in our countries. In Korea, it's perfectly normal. Anyway, new charges could be pending as far is immigration is concerned. (2) As for the transcripts being no more than three months old, hmmm, mine were always older than that and I never had a problem.

(1) They are welcome to check the stamps in my passport. If they can prove I left Korea without an exit stamp AND came back without an entry stamp, then they have bigger problems with security than worryng about a foreigner going home to smoke a joint.

(2) Never happened to me either, but I know people (personally, not second-hand) it's happened to. I've had the same stack of transcripts for 2 years, and they've always been accepted. Friends in other cities, with other immigration offices have not been so lucky.

Absolutely. Just look at EPIK and their verification process. If you couldn't provide your list of fellow grad lists an hour after you were told about it, you were suspect.

Wow, you've had some luck. I've never had that happen to me. I've never even heard of them doing that to anyone.

Never happened to me, either, but again, just wade through the EPIK threads here. jaderedux's story is not the only one.
