White PS3 at Lotte in Myongdong.
I bet you can get it cheaper elsewhere. It comes with a free game.

I don't get it. I was at Yongsan last night and there were official looking posters all along gamers alley advertising the white 40gb for 348,000.
I was gonna go back and pick one up today as well. |

You're better off buying one elsewhere, as Lotte is usually more expensive for most things. And the packaged game was not a good one -- I think they let you choose from a few, though. |

And currently, Blu-ray, which is the High Definition media the PS3 plays, is kicking HD-DVD's butt:

Shame, I was an early adopter of HDDVD and generally buy that format for multi-platform releases. |

I saw it on Danawa for around 330,000. Of course it's the base package with only one controller and no game. Anyways, can't wait to pick this up in all its blu-ray glory!! That definitely puts it at a more reasonable price considering most stand-alone BR players are 500,000 plus. |

But with the PS3, Korea and Japan are the same region as the USA, so it doesn't matter. Different regions than regular DVD.
I would have gotten an HD-DVD player too, because I feel both will probably be around for quite a while, but there aren't many choices here. Either you get the Xbox360 add-on drive, or you pay over $1200 for the dual-format LG player which isn't even allowed to put the HD-DVD logo on it because it doesn't meet spec. |

I'm not sure how easily available it is in Korea but my HDDVD is a Toshiba HD-E1 which was 240 back home in England. It's a nice player that does an excellent job of upscaling standard DVD's too. |

You guys are lucky. The only PS3 I've seen for sale down here in Busan was at Megamart. The price was 578,000. |

I went and got myself one of those white 40gb PS3's yesterday from Yongsan.
I paid 450,000 for the PS3, a Dualshock and 2 games - Pro Evo 2008 (Eng version) and Ratchet & Clank.
Just got to wait until pay day before I get COD4 and Unchartered now.
I love it but I need a nice LCD now. |
