I've been listening to a few good things from Demonoid recently.....
The incomplete and utter history of classical music.....presented by Stephen Fry (so it's funny).
The best stand-up comedy ever!.......lot's of new, old and classic stand-up on this. American and British. Over 4GB but well worth a download. A new-ish British comedian, Daniel Kitson, is particularly worth a listen. A stand-up with a stutter. But very funny. 2 CD's by Mitch Hedberg is on there. Genius.
Theme time radio hour show, presented by Bob Dylan. Over forty hours of radio hosted by Dylan. Each show features some chat by Bob and cool songs, old and new, related to the theme. Addictive radio if you enjoy a broad musical palette. |

I spend near 3 hours every working day on mass transit so I've got a rather large daily podcast routine. I will give the 'daily' casts a subjective score out of 100.
CFR daily (council on foreign relations) (80/100)
Cato Daily (95/100)
Stratfor daily (99/100, I actually look forward to listening to it every morning)
NPR Foreign dispatch (85)
NPR world story of the day (75)
NPR talk of the nation opinion page (75)
NPR most emailed stories (75)
NPR economy (80)
PBS Now (just started)
Washington Post International Hour (60)
NYT front page (90/100)
Free talk live (60/100, but I'm libertarian so I tolerate the low production value)
slate daily dish (85/100.. the "gabfest" is great)
non-daily
The Economist
Cato event podcast
CFR event podcast
NPR intelligence squared (excellent and very strongly recommended)
Martin Wolf Podcast
NYT op-ed podcast
Penn Radio (now defunct)
Center for strategic and international studies
Real Time with Bill Maher
This American Life
And a bunch of other stuff that i just put on when in the house...
Fidelity personal finance podcasts
BusinessWeek
Kellogg institute for international studies
finaniceprofessor podcast
And lastly, the "wonk" stuff I listen to for an edge at school. These are all very strongly recommended for people interested in public policy, finance and related.
McKinsey Global Institute
McKinsey on finance
Deloitte Canada, Australia and UK.
Deloitte Insights

www.zencast.com - biggest selection of free pod and videocasts on the net. There is some awesome animation there, but you gotta look around. In addition, the Austrailian Film and TV Institute puts short films up.
some good vidcast stuff I've found
Dutch animation of the highest quality
cooking demos
travel vidcasts in Spanish (not so easy to find)
network news
Support this site, it rocks, is well organized and is free, free, and FREE.

I thought this thread was worth a bump, as a I just started listening to the podcast I listed in the OP: Skeptics' Guide to the Universe. It's an amazing listen to anyone even remotely interested in science. I am not a big science geek, and I certainly did not get their reference to Data from Star Trek about having 6 billion bytes of storage capacity, or whatever it was, but I thoroughly enjoy the show nonetheless. I've listened to about 100 episodes in the past couple of weeks. About 2 a day, I think.
SGU. Skeptics' Guide to the Universe. Check it oooooout. |
