The other guys aren't really listening to your needs. If you're only playing strategy games you don't need the better video card.
On the other hand, if you think you might want to play half life 2 or even some more advanced real-time strategy games like supreme commander, then definitely go for the better video card if you can afford it.
And yeah, check that CPU to make sure you know which one is better, and at what. |

The editing software would run better on the AMD, but look crappier. The games I want to run SHOULD (correct me if I'm wrong) run with the Radeon card given the system will have 2GB ram shared.
Any techies more knowledgable than I, and that doesn't take much, have any suggestions.
Oh yeah, the Intel/dedicated card combo is $291 more. That's $291 more I could spend on a video camera. |
Why do you need a 17" notebook? Are there any special reasons other than to see a screen that's slightly bigger than the 15.4? The people I know that buys a 17" are high end users requiring optimum power and performance. The larger frame is used to accommodate bigger hard disks, faster GPUS/CPUS and so on.
You will be disappointed buying any integrated video cards, they are way down the ladder in terms of 3D and video performances.
How about looking at 15" notebooks as an alternative and you will have a lot more options. |
