| I and all the females I have referred to Dr. Sung have nothing but good to say about her. The offices are clean and thoroughly modern, the staff polite and discrete, Dr. Sung is friendly and efficient. I would recommend her to any woman in Korea. |

| Does anyone know of anything that would be comparable to Ortho Tri-cyclen Lo? I know Mercilon is low-dose, but I'd prefer something that isn't monophasic if possible. |

My six month supply is about to run out and I'm hoping to find the same pills so I don't have to switch AGAIN. I was on the generic of Alesse, then in February switched to Seasonique (free sample that lasted for three months) then got the max of three packs of Levora, which is the generic of Nordette, which is a step higher but made by the same company as Alesse (confused yet?).
I take pills for regularity and Seasonique would be best since it comes in three month packs, but I'd settle for taking three one-month packs in a row. My question is if I also can't find Nordette/Levora, does anyone know which pills have the same hormone levels? Also, I prefer monophaisic. |

| I used mircelon, an Irish BC most of this year and I really liked it. The price was right, only about $6 a month and it had only one level of hormone so I think it was a little safer. |

|
|
| I am just starting to take birth control pills again after a long break. Went and picked up a package of Myvlar and I can;t seem to find any instructions in English for these. Is anyone out there taking this brand? Can you tell me when I can start the pack? I know when I was on Ortho Tri-Cyclen I had to start the first Sunday after my period started, or the first day of my period. Can anyone tell me if these work the same way? Thanks a bunch! |

| starting on the first day of your period or the sunday after is standard for any birth control pill I've ever heard of. |

| Standard yes, but I prefer to start my on Friday so that I finish on a Thursday, so that I start my period on a Monday and am done by the weekend. |

I just posted to the BC thread in the FAQ forum, but thought i'd write it here too....
As of November, 2007 (yeah, now) Diane 35 is not available in Korea without a doctor's prescription.
Wish I knew that before I ran out! I'm freaking out now. I use it to keep my acne under control...
what is similar to diane for acne control and is available in Korea? I asked the pharmacist and he recommended Mercilon and Minivlar.....
Anyone have any reviews related to acne? I used to have very serious acne....was on accutane and all that. diane cleared everything up and I'm going crazy just thinking that my horrible skin will return! |

| Why not just get a doctor's prescription? They don't ask questions. Just go to an ob/gyn. |

I was on every BCP imaginable since 18... mono, tri.. whatever.. I switched from mono to tri and I don't know why I didn't to begin with.
Triquilar is very good.. you can/should give it a go - but I would talk to your GP back home first to get approval, so to speak. Never fun to switch meds. |
Triquilar is the first pill that I tried. I was on it for about 5 years before I started to get the most wicked migraines imaginable. I couldn't open my eyes in a lit room. I'm not sure why the drug decided to hate me after a fantastic 5 year relationship. I would generally recommend it as well. |

because i'm out now, so by the time i go to the doctor and get a prescription i'll have missed a month. yes, not a big deal.....i'm just really paranoid because I love diane! i really love her!
no, because of my issues with acne in the past, i'm terrified of going off the pill, although i've been thinking about it for the past couple of months....
maybe this is good opportunity to give it a try. that's a good question! --
has anyone here who has taken the pill to control acne gone off the pill? and the results? i'm terribly worried about getting the acne back, as you can tell. |

There's a new brand available, and it's got the same stuff in it as Diane-35:
Cyproterone acetate 2mg, Ethinyl estradiol 0.035mg
It's called Nowonacne Tab, and I think it's in a white/purple box. It's listed as over-the-counter.
And for those who are interested in this option, Hanmi Pharm also makes a Nonoxynol-9 suppository called Nowon.

| Schering Korea makes a version of Yasmin, called Primolut N. This has Drospirenone 3mg, and Ethinyl estradiol .03mg. However, it's listed as a treatment to "control irregular periods" and not as a contraceptive, so maybe a prescription is necessary? |

|
|
Anyone out there been taking Myvlar? I just started taking it about two months ago but find myself freaking out because the instructions are in Korean and I can't find crap about it online... And it doesn't help that I live in the country and there are no fluent pharmacists here...
What I want to know, specifically, is whether Myvlar is a combination pill or progestin only. I'm assuming it's a combination pill because everything I've read says that progestin pills only come in 28 day packs while Myvlar is 21 days, but then again, it never hurts to ask those who would know... And also, how important is it to take this pill on time? I know that progestin only pills must be taken within 3 hours of your scheduled time everyday, but it seems that comibination pills are less strict (from what I've read). I've been an hour and a half off twice in the last month; I'm sure I'm safely within the window, but yes, better to check.
I'm also curious to know what your experience with it has been like. Qualms or praises?? So far I've lost at least 10 pounds--quite contrary to the normal assumption that bc makes you gain weight--but who knows if that's because of the pill or not. |
