|
|
It started yesterday at 3:55 pm....
Nearing the end of school, I was planning a strenuous workout at the gym upon leaving to release some of the stressors the day brings.
Then came the daily knock at the door. The door is flung open and nobody is there...This drives me to insanity on a daily basis....so today I decided to run after and catch the culprit...
I saw him tearing down the stairs so I followed in hot pursuit....the quick little bugger put on the gas so I stepped on it myself. I tried to jump 4 steps, fell and twisted my ankle. I felt sick and was in a lot of pain.
WHAT WAS THE REACTION OF THE KOREAN PMS STUDENTS AROUND ME...TO LAUGH THEIR HEADs OFF.
I hobbled along a few more steps then collapsed down.
Long story short they called an ambulance for me and it was off to the hospital for x-rays and treatment....
I have X amount of days off school. The painkillers aren't doing a hell of a lot.
My boss has been good, escorting me to the hospital and he and the culprit's Mum brought me some food and paid me a visit.
So just resting and laying low until I can get back in the classroom and try my best to teach again as I won't be very mobile in the classroom!

Oh buddy, use your wits and not your body when it comes to those Korean kids. Your story kind of made me chuckle, though I'm not laughing at you. You'll get over it, I'm sure, but it appears that kid got the best of you and there's really nothing you can do.
I probably would've done the same though. Maybe you should tell the police or something. Perhaps they'll make the parents pay for your hospital bills.
Take care. |

Sue the little bastard and the school too. Koreans would sue the shit out of you if the kid fell down the stairs instead of you. |

Actually suing is much more popular in the US. Still, you've got a case so it's your call. Sadly this kind of thing happens the world over, but it's still inexcusable. |

Thanks for the support.
They brought me a truck-load of food and drink, even food from my country
The mother of the child will also pay for the medical bills which will come to more than 700,000 won....I'm not 100% sure if they will take 50% off that with my insurance provided from the school. |

The story would have ended better with you coming back to your apt and it was robbed:) |

You are an adult, right? No sympathy from me--running around the halls like some middle school kid. No wonder they laughed at you. Probably lost some respect in the process. Lesson learned?
A word of advice: leave the door open. |

The only way to get the other students to give up a kid.... Have an accident... If you hadn't fallen, I am sure the other students never would have identified the kid... |

I'm confused by the implication of some of the replies - you could sue the kids family for this is the States??
He knocked on a door, and ran away. The OP chose to chase him down the stairs and in the process of voluntarily jumping, hurt himself(which sucks of course).
Honestly, there is a case here? Because I can't see it. |

I am sure any kid who just cost mommy 700,000 and lots of obligatory face-saving activity surely had the snot beaten out of him by now.

I feeel your pain, eh.
Bring a pump-action Daisy B.B. Gun to work when you recover from your injury. Pelt the next person to pull that stuff with a few pellets on his/her backside. |

Sorry OP but the picture of an adult teacher racing after a kid and taking a tumble while trying to jump steps 4 at a time is hilarious!
I hope you recover well and that one day you can look at this and laugh it up!
The knocking on the door and running away has been going on since they invented doors.....amusing to see it still works after all this time.
The kids would have laughed. Any kid would have initially...they saw a teacher take a tumble while chasing a prankster....the fact is help was there after the initial merriment and the support after the event seems to be pretty great...so take it easy and chalk it up as a learning experience: don't chase nimble kids down stairways.... |
