Hey. I've got a Dell Inspiron laptop that's about 2 years old. Recently the sound card has been playing up. First the input connection for speakers didn't work properly. Then the built in speakers gave up too.
Anyway, I got my girlfriend to call Dell Korea to ask about fixing the problem and they quoted her a price of 500,000w! Now I'm not too up to date on prices but this is ridiculous.
Would it be possible to repair it in a local computer store? Cheaper? I know many places don't like working on laptops. I'm in Busan. Any suggestions? |

I\'d suggest looking at Dell\'s customer forums -- they often have good information.
Have you checked your driver? Gone back to a restore point? |

In a laptop, you usually can't just have the sound card replaced. It's built in to the mainboard. That's probably why Dell Korea is quoting the price of 500,000 - parts and labor for a complete main board replacement.
I wouldn't bother with replacing the whole system board. If your laptop has a PC card slot, there are some PC card slot sound cards available. |
