Hello,
I'v been accepted into the EPIK program, I have an F2 visa and a family. I start with Epik immediately after my current contract. I would like to know where I will be working a month or so before, so I can find adequate housing close to the school. Do they just draw schools out of a hat or do I have some pull about which I area of the city/school I will be working? Are there any parts of the contract they're willing to negotiate on? |

I understand that first year EPIK teachers do not have any say in where they go, but will find out at the end of the 10 day orientation.
2nd year and beyond do get to pick where they teach out of the available schools. |

It depends!
Are you in the BIG hiring starting in march? or do you start earlier?
If your in march...............then lottery it is......but with a F2 might get the
wife to make a call and get it a fixed lottery.
One reason it's still up in the air is becuase we have not done the re-signing yet so they wouldn't have a clue who or how many are coming back.
But, I know they are trying to double the amount of Epik teacher next year so maybe a lot of new schools. If you already have a place I would see if there is a school near you?
If you are in earlier then they already have a school in mind just call and ask them!

I will start in March. We'll they told me I might get out of the 10 day orientation since it will be my 5th year in Korea. My current contract is up Feb. 29. I want to negotiate my placement. If don't know until March 1st where I will be working/living, it will be a little difficult to arrange a move. I also don't want elementary kids, I prefer middle or high school. Hopefully it will all work out. |

Why not tell them "now" that you have a family. This will give them more time to find family housing for you. If you wait until you start the position the housing could be small. |

Kewl kewl
welcome aboard
I would say if you speak Korean call them! or have your wife call them! I think you can negotiate
where to go or aleast a general area. if you Know the POE you will be in just call them they are easier to negotiate with ......for me anyway
