The mac 'n cheese is alright, but it's no Kraft. It's a little bland and just doesn't have the tanginess.

BUT! if you mix in half a thing of that canned chicken they've got there it brings up the flavor a bit, makes it more filling, AND you get some protein content, too. Of course, alternatively you could always keep it real and chop up a couple of those sublime Costco hotdogs and throw them in there.(Yes, I am fully aware that hotdogs and chicken meat out of a can is effin' gross, but sometimes time is a commodity in short supply ^^)

Speaking of the cereals, anyone else laugh at that one with the big gorilla face on the front? For some unknown reason it never fails to amuse my wife and I. What advertising exec thought primates would sell cereal?

Man... Think I'm due for a Costco run again today. Everything about going there- the smell, the huge ceilings, the gorilla cereal- just makes me happy and content with the world. Thanks for the pics!

Yes, cool thread. I did one exactly like it sometime last year, though always good someone updates, as their stock is always changing a bit. Your pics look like they're from the SangBong Costco. Am I right? Or do they all look the same?

Here are some highlights from my thread-

Does anyone know if Costco has regular oatmeal, apart from the flavored packs in the photo?

Yeah, they had it last year. Dunno if they currently have it though.

Those pics look like the Sanbong branch. I'm lucky because I live in the apartment block next door. It is literally a stone's throw from my apartment. I like to pop in to grab a caesar salad every now and then.

Handphone cam which has to boost the internal gain to make up for lower lighting (no flash). It makes up for the low lighting by keeping the shutter open a loooong time. That's coupled with the fact that I was told not to take photos there once. I try to hurry, and it's difficult to notice what's in focus and not in focus without zooming in on the photo and taking a bunch of time to check.

Embarassed

Yep.. Sangbon location.

I live about 400m from Sangbong Costco. It's frickin awesome to have a decent supermarket so close to home.

For me it's all about......

Bagels! They're yummy and cheap! Korean bread sucks but these don't. Buy 'em and freeze 'em. They taste just as good out of the freezer.

Meats.......beef, pork, chicken, turkey at Christmas,

Cheeses.......Kirkland extra sharp cheddar may not be the best cheddar but it's okay. Tilamook is good. The other cheeses in Costco are as overpriced as any other K-supermarket.

Coffee....13,000 for almost a kilo of decent coffee beans is a steal anywhere. Especially in Korea!

It's funny you mention about 'watered down honey'. My wife swears by Korean honey, saying it's the best in the world.

Yep, we also love Costco! My wife and I went yesterday and got the 80 gb iPod and Sony 8.1 mb. cyber-shot to celebrate our 8th anniversary. Great deals! We were there around noon and it wasn't very crowded at all.

One thing that we do is get 2 big boxes of chicken breasts. When we get home, we open them up and put them into little zip-lock baggies (4 pieces in each) and freeze them. When needed, just take one out at a time.

They have a suggestion box near the check-out and on their website. Let them know what you would like to see them order. The more suggestions, the better the chance that they'll bring it in.

A very nice thread, indeed!

When I go to the Daegu Costco I always check for REGULAR oatmeal, but they never have it -- I think the packets suck. Too much sugar and the instant stuff gets all goopy real fast. Whenever I go to Seoul I make sure to find the regular style oatmeal in Itaewon. Anyone know a place to get it in Daegu?

As for Annie's Mac 'n Cheese, I think it's pretty good. It's all natural and organic, which makes me feel better about eating it -- not like Kraft's toxic fluorescent orange stuff. And as someone else said, it's much better when you add stuff to it. I like to add some canned albacore tuna (also from Costco -- apparently the only tuna in water in Korea!).

Plus, Annie's is from my home's neighboring county of Napa, California! Very Happy

I tried, man, but COSTCO is a little short on religious zealots in pith helmets. Laughing

I suspect Captain Corea was especially miffed because the Ipod signs didn't turn out well, so you couldn't read the stats.

Jinju added some nice pics to the thread... and hey... there aren't even any feet!
