I think it does matter what the expenditure is.
With a family of four, and a wife who doesn't bring in monthly income due to working due for the benefit of the family store, just my household living expenditure is the same as, if not more than, a Uni, Hakwon, or school salary.
Likewise, I am out of that market.

Which is better, earnings of 4.ooo.ooo won with 2.5 going out, or 2.5 in and 1 going out?
Is not the remaining descretionary[sp?] income the same?

It really also depends on what kind of experience you have. It's not entirely about the type of visa you have. It is true that those who have an F series can have multiple jobs and teach privates, but that doesn't mean someone on an E-2 couldn't earn a lot.
