Hi,
I'm wondering if anyone has heard anything about Reading Town in Changwon. I had a fairly positive interview with them on the phone and thought I should check here. I'd be working mostly with younger kids, heavy focus on reading, 2nd shift hours (something like 3-9pm), 10 days paid vacation.
I've also been in contact with a few recruiters. There was an Australian fellow with ESL Planet who was really really helpful, but they require a ton of paperwork/documents before proceeding. Stuff like medical checks, criminal background, letters of reccomendation, etc. Is this standard for any recruiting company or for any position in korea, or just the public schools? In general, what are the advantages of going through one of these recruiters vs. responding to an individual job posting?
Another thing: 10-14 days paid vacation seems a little stiff for a school job. Those of you who have worked under these conditions, how has it worked out? Are you able to get away often enough? I'm really hoping to do some traveling while I'm teaching abroad. |

What ended up happening? Did you take the job? I am going to be working at a Reading Town in Changwon starting in July, and they require the same massive amount of paperwork. However, it seems pretty standard and more aboveboard than some sketchy places that just want to screw you over...please share your experience! |

I was offered a job at a Reading Town somewhere in Seoul. I've since not bothered sending anything in because they haven't had the current foreign teacher call me. |

Yeah, the one in Changwon put me in touch with a teacher there right away...I think that the quality of the chain hagwons (like Reading Town) really depend on the individual place as opposed to, say, McDonalds which are the same across the board. |
