This is an impossible task since there are so many incredible songs, and there have already been some great ones mentioned. So I'll list some that I think are the greatest ever. These aren't the usual suspects, but at the moment I'm listening to them, they're the greatest ever!
Live - White, Discussion
Supertramp - Gone Hollywood (And many other Supertramp songs)
Jane's Addiction - Three Days
Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
Meat Loaf - For Crying Out Loud
Melissa Etheridge - Like The Way I Do
Pink Floyd - Great Gig In The Sky
And the obligatory Zeppelin - Dazed And Confused

I mean, it's gotta be either "Stairway" or "Free Bird," right? I mean, c'mon, those are epic. For me, I'm going:
1. Stairway to Heaven
1a. Free Bird
because if I did leave here tomorrow, I doubt you'd still remember me, but I still try to be a rock, and not to roll. |

I suppose we'd have throw Twist and Shout down there, not cuz it's so great or even written by them, but cuz it defined that era so well.
Also, earlier songs like Johnny B. Goode or Roll Over Beethoven (Chuck Berry), Rock Around the Clock (Bill Haley), or Great Balls of Fire (Jerry Lee Lewis) should be on there. Hound Dog by Elvis too. That's rock and roll par excellence. |

The Beatles aren't rock. They're like teen pop who played guitar. You can't compare The Doors to The Beatles ditto with Cream or LZ with the Beatles.
They tried to go a bit more rocky with the White Album, I guess. But meh... They just never sounded rock to me, or any variation there of. |

Jimi Hendrix - Purple Haze
Nominating this song is an act of rebellion thus its and act of Rock n' Roll.
Jimi Hendrix is a Negro thus the nomination is a civil rights action.
This song also contained a "seminal" Gay rights act, namely the line "Excuse me while I kiss this guy". Jimi Hendrix was an early Gay rights reformer.
Its got winner all over it. |

Is it possible for you to go a day without posting something utterly moronic?
Right now, the answer seems to be "no" |
