I'm curious to find out how many people are really happy with the job they are currently in, if you are just 'making do' until the end of contract .. or are looking for a way out?

Not happy, not sad, just liveable....
Sure life could be better but it's not for much longer so I hope I can survive.
There are still teaching moments in the classroom I enjoy when it's not mundane.
It's more the isolation and lonliness outside of the classroom I find hard...I have friends out of school but no other foreign teachers at my public schools-I can see that being a big plus of working in a hagwon. |

| I am loving my Korea experience. The people are great, the job is good and I am pursuing my own interests and goals more than I am working. Not a lifetime gig but I certainly plan to stick around for a couple years at least. |

Are you under 26 years of age and Canadian or are you an ethnic Korean? |

So far my happiness has had little to do with my work or immediate surroundings. I have other passions and interests that are far more powerful indicators of my mood, and I'm able to satisfy them myself. It took some time to find a working situation that would allow me the time and mental energy to do so, but I've gotten better and better at doing so.

I quite like Korea and am happy to be here, I don't like my work situation all that much but Korea is good. When I get with the piano teacher next door it will get better! 
If I could go back to the summer, I would have gone to a PS in Seoul. It is not like I wasn't told on numerous occasions. I think Wo Buxihan said it best the nearer you are to Seoul the better it is going to be.
I'm not unhappy, it could be better though but that has nothing to do with the country or the culture in itself (if you leave working for a Korean out of the equasion!) |

| well this is a helpful poll. after reading all the constant complaining about problems with korean employers, it's nice to see a simple "do you like it or not" question posed. can't wait to come in may. |

| I like Korea, I've liked my time here, but I'm about to start my 6 month countdown to finishing my third contract (first I'll actually finish, ah, Korea). I always told my mother I'd leave Korea when it was no longer fun or something was calling me home. Well, someone is calling me home...lucky for me, he's here in Korea at least... |

At least a lot of locals are thoroughly sexist in their treatment of foreign white chicks who are a even just so-so in terms of their facial appearance or figures.
One should raise the question, "Have they been treating you like a human being JUST BECAUSE they may see you as a so-called White Horse that could and should be given a good ride?"

I quite like it.
But I like my job- I think that goes a LONG way. I've never enjoyed any place where I hated my job- and I'm sure Korea would be the same. |
