well what can I say... was a good game..
Toni's early goal even had my saying WTF! is italy gonna cream these guys??? a goal in the first minute!! wow..
the game was good solid performance from the scots..
now..
the goal from Scotland was offside! but hey! I was ok with it many countries have benefited from situations like that ITaly has too. so I was fine with it.. I was pretty sure ITaly was gonna score again anyway..

NOW... the late charge from chielli onto Hutton was a TERRIBLE call!!
as an Italian I was not happy that we were given a free kick there..
I knew Italy was gonna score once that kick given and I felt bad about it!
not a great way to win.. but hey.. the referees were not biased one bit!

VIVA ITALIA!

Not the result I was hoping for; the azzurri fans are hopelessly insufferable, and they did just enough to win at the last minute, which sometimes happens in football.

The Scots should hold their heads high; they could have walked away with at least a point, and but for a lousy last-minute refereeing decision, would have.

Sickening, disgraceful. What is it with Italy and getting these crap decisions.

Here's another one:

Why is everyone so desperate to have this cheating nation in their finals. I like my conspiracy theories and this is most definately one. Major nations not attending = Revenue drops = Stinks

If you saw the game in question rather than just Youtube clips and if you knew anything at all about the game of football, you would have noticed that 1)Scotland's goal should have been disallowed for offside.
2)Di Natale's goal was not offside and should have been given thereby giving the Italians a two goal lead
3)Yes, the free kick given in injury time which led to Italy's winning goal probably shouldn't have been given but sometimes these decisions are given and there's not much you can do about them and finally..
4)Scotland were never realistically going to qualify because they're just not good enough.

Thank you and goodnight..now go back to watching basketball or something Rolling Eyes

Holy cow! Nice post. If you look at scotland's performances over the qualifying it's a travesty that they didn't qualify. I would like to see them in the finals and not the usual big boys which I was implying in my post.
Off side is a contentious decision and is got wrong a lot of times. But the "tackle" leading up to the freekick was a disgrace. There is human error for off side as it's a split second decision but the challenge was not that split second. Come on!

I hate basketball and I played football in England to a very high level so that final comment doesn't really wash, sorry. Rolling Eyes

Erm! Oh dear. I'm second now. That's not so good. Hoping for a little revival soon. Can I change my name? Wink

i read on whoateallthepies.tv that about 80% of england fans wanted scotland to go through, while 72% of scotland fans wanted russia to win! (not sure where they got those stats, though)
