Is it just me or are there a lot of people with mild to moderate acne here in Korea? Back home it is very rare to see a grow man or woman with anything other than the odd pimple but here, wow, it's like it's rare to see an adult without it. Why is that? |

Could well be. My skin was fine in England, but after 6 months I noticed my skin started getting red if I ate too much spicy food, exercised a lot or drank alcohol. IPL treatment has reduced this, but still some way to go. |

It's not polution. It's because they constantly pick at their faces with their dirty hands. For Koreans with spouses, it's even worse, because they pick at each others faces. It's right up there with Korean courtship rituals such as carrying her home piggyback style. I've seen it on buses, in movie theatres, even in restaurants. Admit it, you guys with k girlfriends/wives. She likes to pop your zits. They're always at their faces, and the cell phone cameras don't help. Think of how many times a day they do that kewpie doll pinch your cheeks pose or stroke their chin like some 1950's male matinee idol for their cameras. Show me a Korean commercial where the celebrity isn't touching his or her face, or someone else's. It's bad hygiene, pure and simple. Add to it the fact that they sit around a pile of bacon frying in their faces four or five times a week.
I never saw a 10 year old with blackheads until I came here. |

^ This is pretty funny. People who do a lot of psychedelic drugs often have bad skin for the same reason - constantly touching their faces. |

I read this and got to thinking 'Hmm...I touch my face a lot too, but I don't have pimples'
Then I realized that with all the selflove that I've got going on, the man-lotion left over probably helps "smooh things out." |

I know! I think, much more importantly than the acne, though, is the spreading of pink eye. Every time I see someone rubbing their eyes on the subway, I want to scream at them. Does no one realize that touching the handles on the subway and then touching your eyes is an excellent way to get yourself pink eye? Argh! |

Acne is not just a problem in Korea, but pretty much everywhere in East Asia, except for Japan. I have seen the exact same problems in Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam and the Philippines. Is it really from touching their faces so much? Don't all kids touch their faces a lot? If so, why have I never seen a grade 3 elementary school student from home with full-blown acne? Here, I have three grade students will full-blown acne. It's nuts. |

this is funny. I have stopped eating rice. I prefer bread and with the rice its too much carb's and glucose.
Anyway, at one of my schools I was told if I stopped eating rice I would get spots!
Nope...haven't...not yet...been a while...still waiting

I am 35 and am still prone to pimples.
I used to have severe acne in my teens and early 20s.
Pretty much caused by greasy skin type, hormones and anxiety.
I notice I am more prone if I don't shave for a day which allows my skin to be more greasy than normal, so I try an shave everyday.
I also touched my face to much, but my wife has stopped me doing that as much. |

Often it's because of makeup.
K girls don't clean off their old makeup before putting on more. They just pile it on top of the old stuff. |

So, uh, the K-girl you hang around with doesn't wash her face? SHE'S A KEEPER!
You're generalizing too much. |

All these things still don't explain why we see children with full-blown acne here, but rarely, if ever, at home. 8 year olds with terrible acne is just strange. |
