The recruiter says I need a health check for the public school job I've applied for (I'm in England now - the job is in Busan). My local medical centre wants to know what specifically what I want done in the physical check up (there are a range of things you can get done for a medical). The recruiter is pretty vague 'just a general health' So, what do I need checking?

In all probability this would be a general health check to see that you are "healthy." i.e. no communicable diseases. This would mean blood test, urine sample (possibly for drugs), Aids test perhaps. Also the doctor would want to check your heart and lungs, and perhaps the nether regions (both sides!!) It is much overlooked but even the questions your doctor asks you about your view of your own health are quite relevant. Any problems you might be having.
In short, all that is usually done in a health check - relevant to your age. If you get the piece of paper that says you are healthy, that is all they will want to see. As usual, paper documents are the most important things here, the details are rarely examined. All form, no content. Good luck, you'll probably develop something during your stay here!!!!

When I did my health check for EPIK I just had a routine physical without bloodwork. At the time I did not health insurance in the States and was apprehensive to fork out the cash unless it was strictly necessary or I would wait to have something like that done in Korea. Luckily, they were fine with the clean bill of health from my doctor without the blood work. I also didn't have a drug test either not that it would have shown anything.
