My fiance and i have been talking about this. Now, while i have MANY outside interests on this lil' compuweb thingy, she thinks i spend too much time on it. She sees very little practical use for the internet; despite the fact that she wants to travel and move around the world a lot.
I seem to be spending too much time on dave's here according to her. I feel i spend a lot but not too much.
she gets frustrated on sunny beautiful days like this when spend 45mins on the computer on the INTERNET and 2x figuring out our new computer (that has korean windows xp...totally unfamiliar)

So, i'm not concinved i'm spending TOO much time, but do you think that being on dave's and the internet can fool with your noggin?

Last night while engaging in the frivolities I was thinking of my post to the phone back after meeting a girld while hammered and how I don't get drunk and and make an ass out of myself in situtations like that.

I spend a lot of time on here too, but I think you can answer your question with another question: Would you rather spend time with your real flesh and blood friends, or spend time yapping with someone whom you know only by their avatar? Are you eating well? Sleeping well?
Speaking of addictions, am I glad I am almost caught up watching Sex and the City, cause I stayed up a bit too late wanting to see how things turned out between Carrie and Berger. Rolling Eyes
Yeah yeah, I'm not proud of this....

Take two weeks off, then come back and report your findings.

Lets be honest here:

You/ we all gravitate towards geeky crap like the internet because we're all geeks.

Non geeks dont understand why you'd want to use the internet for more than porn and MP3s, but there you go, Booger.

I'm not a geek, just a lonely, sad man fending off the ladies.

The internet is a wonderful place to kill time...

In fact, here is a discount assault rifle dealer, call for bulk rates and they will ship directly to an FFL

www.aimsurplus.com

I only use the internet to buy new toys, look at porn, and get new songs....the rest is all filler while I wait for the above.

Pure brain candy.

After a couple of years in Korea I find my English vocabulary is getting rusty from teaching ESL at such a consistently fluffy level. I don't do a lot of writing here either. This site reminds me that there's a whole English dictionary out there.

For me it's killing time while waiting to get back. When back I'll be too busy to post frequently.

If this makes you comfortable then do it. It's your life to live.

Cheers,
Joe

all thanks to helpful posters.

I'm not convinced the interweb screws me up. I RARELY spend any time being frivolous (believe it or not). I prefer to think of it as having a variety of interests.
for example...i tend to look for/ research the following:
1) teaching cert. and visa RQs for the following: NZ, OZ, Can (provinces), Malawi
2) visiting iuma.com (a website for the most amateur and unsigned artists. Keep hoping i'll stumble on someone who is great (like my friends in the vanc.)
3) here and other esl forums
4) gettin' myuzac wherever i can Kazaa is starting to suck me thinks
5) listening to music
6) looking up recording info and indie label info
7) keepin track of my fav. musicians
8) fark
9) other ridiculous sites
10) getting an online photo album
11) email
12) Music Festivals back home

In fact, i don't look at any porn now. I used to a bit, but i've given up on that. There is actual stuff i need to do.
