Can anyone tell me if I am still eligible for my pension if I break my contract and leave after 5.5 months? I have all the documents that I would normally need. If it is possible, do I have to wait until my last paycheck? Thank you.

It's your money. You can get it. I think you'll need a copy of your outbound flight, and you'll need a Korean bank account. They may contact your place of work however.

Corky, I don't think that's valid info. From what I understand, you have to finish a 12 month contract to get your pension. After you finish 12 months at a job, you can re-sign and then quit anytime and get your pension (like working 15 months), but if it's under 12, I don't think you can get it.

You should get your pension, but you won't be able to collect a severance, unless you had it written in your contract that you would be paid a pro-rated amount.

You can get your pension anytime you are outbound from Korea on a one way ticket.

You CANNOT get your severance as per article 34 of the labor standards act.

I got my pension after not completing a contract. I had to bring a copy of my plane ticket, and I also didn't have a Korean bank account, so they just sent a cheque to my home address. Took a few months, but it was no big deal.
