Is there some kind of a Korean cultural custom to contact a guy/girl when it starts to snow? I swear, 2 other girls other than I had native guys text us when it began to snow tonight. I thought that was sorta weird.... dunno if this is some kind of Korean thing of it was just a big coincidence....

complete guess, but it sounds like its related to this:

First snow on Wolchulsan, the Koreans say, the time when lovers promise many things... fidelity, commitment to meeting again on the next first snow, swanky new cellphones?

haha! I got a call from my boyfriend (who is korean) when it started snowing too. He told me he doesn't know why they do it but they usually only do that to their boyfriends/girlfriends. =D
But my guess would be to agree with you guys.

Dunno if it's just a Korean thing, but don't you think that maybe anywhere in the world where snow happens in winter it might be just a little bit, um, for want of a better word ...

sweet?

I grew in sunnier and in more temperate climes, where you had to drive to the mountains to see snow. You can expect snow on the ground every year here, and since I've lived here I tend to give a shout when I see the first flakes dropping. I've even sent 5 or 6 texts to pals all around ...

"Look out the window! It's snowing!

By the way, I hate winter, I really do, because I don't like to be cold, not even for a few minutes. It is a thing to be endured and nothing about it is worth celebrating. Except snow, and only when it's fresh and clean and white and new ...

There was rain tonight and it was very cold. As I walked there were soggy patches of white dropping down among the drops. I don't know if it qualifies as the first of the year, but I called my lady up on the phone.

Hmm. Well, my taekwondo master texted me last year on the first snow. And last night he specifically called me out of class to see it. But there is nothing romantic going on.

I texted my boyfriend when I saw it, but I don't know why.

I got an accusatory text from my girlfriend today, saying it snowed yesterday. Yet another failure in my boyfriendhood, after my refusal to wear the couple t, carry the bag or buy her a tigger. Well actually I did the last one but was a little wierded out by her absolute adoration of it..

Yea. I just learned about this too. It was a disaster for me. I have a female Korean language tutor (no, seriously that's it) who comes to my apartment twice a week. After the lesson she noticed it was snowing. I didn't think it was a big deal, but I humored her and we went to the window to watch and chat.

Less than ten minutes after our lesson finished my doorbell rang, and it was a girl I've been seeing exculsively for a few weeks. She looked suspicious and asked me "what are you [both] doing?" I answered innocently"watching the snow." Big mistake......
(I looked at my phone later and noticed I'd had 3 messages from hewr about the snow and she was coming to watch it with me)

wow so I guess its a good thing that I texted this girl that I liked and told her there was first snow. And she replied and then I called her and we talked for a while and made plans for celebrating Thanksgiving. I wondered why she was so enthusiastic when she'd been somewhat distant before. Cool!
