There's one in Songtan right outside the main gate.
Alot of soldiers/airmen go there to "get ink".

And because they deal with soldiers, the SPs go there and they get regular hygeine inspections for cleanliness....

But true, Tats' are illegal in Korea, but since the area immediately outside Osan is under USFK and 8th AF jurisdiction, it is tolerated.....

The one I got in Korea was done in Hongdae. There's a piercing shop near the main gate, and if you ask about tattoos, the employees will make a phone call. A few blocks away, there are two separate shops: one in an industrial loft and another in an officetel. The guy at the latter couldn't see my friend and me because he'd fractured his wrist, so he referred us to the former, and they did excellent work.

Another friend was tattooed in Gangnam. She was unhappy with the result. I think she paid 200,000 for a blurry tattoo the size of a 500-won coin. Try Hongdae.

Is it intelligent to get a tattoo in Korea? Methinks not. Why not go to a country with a diversity of skilled (tattoo) artists and shop around? Getting a tattoo in Korea has got to be like getting bibimbap in Arkansas.

So an update:

Yushi is the shizznat! His work has been featured everywhere including GQ. His ink is amazing and he is super kool. My friend got his tat, very well done. Amazing, the place to go in korea.

It was very expensive and he is very exclusive, make an appointment it ain't a place for sailors on their weekend shore leave. But it is worth the effort and money.

Thanks for the link guys.

Yeah, I've posted a link to his shop in another thread about tattoos. Based on what I've seen on other Korean tattoo artists' websites, he's definitely one of the better ones, and quite possibly the best with colours.

My friend's tattoo was small, maybe 3X3 inches and only 2 colours and it was very simple. It cost him 250,000.

So it was expensive for something small but I got the impression that if you went in and arranged/planned a sleeve or some back work you could get a reasonable price.

He also does raised tattoos including one of a really bitchin' frog.

Go check out his art or his awesome pic in GQ.

I should try to hit him up before he heads out then. I need some more ink (damn addictive things they are).
I'm assuming he has a waiting list eh? About how long might it be?
Or is he apprenticing anyone at the moment who will be taking over once he leaves?

There is a really good female tattoo artist in Apgujeong. She is pretty well known from what I've heard.
