I've done a bit of amateur move-making in my time and often think about making a movie set in Seoul.

But nothing very noteworthy ever seems to happen here.

This board is a good example; endless stories of racism, accusations of sexism and requests for advice on encounters with Korean women (dare I say 'girls' in the current climate?).

Does anyone know of anything interesting that would make a good plot for a film?

(Obviously I would include some hot K-girls too, but I also need a plot!)

There was a thread about a year or so ago, many pages, they discussed making a movie. Don't know whatever came of it...wasn't really following it.

I wasn't thinking of making any money out of it.

It's more of a hobby.

Dude, any those would be good.

Of, if you feel artistic, something I always wanted to do is make a "One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovitch" along the lines of "One Day in the Life of Joe Hagwon" (better make that day a Friday).

You could call it Waegsploitation.

That's the thing; I wasn't thinking of a hagwon story. Although that's definitely interesting for us, I'm not sure how much appeal it has to a more general audience.

Ah. Well. No problem. There are only a limited number of plots. Grab a copy of "36 Dramatic Situations" or any similar book and choose one. Then, set it in Korea.

How about this for a story line-- Some western guy marries a korean prostitute but he doesn't know she is a prostitute until 6 months later. After he discovers the truth, she take all his money out of the account that is in her name because foreigners can't have this type of account. And before he knows what's happened, she is in Australia living with another guy doing the same thing to him.

Based on a true story.

i know a guy who got followed around by undercover camera men and used by an undercover journalist to make a story about the dodgey lifestyles waygooks lead in Korea. if only i could get my hands on all their footage and edit it in correspondence with HIS side of the story. i wonder if he has any legal entitlement to it.

I was thinking along similar lines. You could have the actor be as shady as Korean media portrays whitey. Have tons of fake degrees, do drugs, steal Korean women (and children!) especially if they are married, steal anything, really, rob taxis and just go out blazing in glory. Then have some twist at the end about how the man's madness made Kim Jong Il think twice about invading S. Korea, there's no way he'd want to deal with the foreigners and their behavior.

A year ago, some guys off of here got together and filmed another guy painted green, not unlike Masta Don's avatar. He was walking around town making weird noises. They seemed to have a lot of fun doing it.
