I'm watching Federer playing Sampras somewhere in Korea on SBS right now. Anyone know where this is being held? I can't tell from watching and they haven't announced it so far. If it's still going on tomorrow, I would love to go and see some matches in person. |

Sorry, just found out that it happened a few days ago! Shoot, I always find out about cool events a wee bit late here in Korea. Wish there was a comprehensive guide like Timeout here. |

No, it was today. My coworker took the day off to see the exhibition. It was in Jamsil. She got her tickets about a month ago and paid 90,000. |

I really enjoyed it and was calling out for Sampras to win, but I am disappointed that the 90,000 won match lasted 1h 01m. Not that I expected Federer to lose, but he could have stretched it out to 3 sets for the fans... |

Sure, he could have but why would you expect that? I wouldnt expect it. You dont become a Roger Federer or a Pete Sampras without being super competitive. Would you really expect Roger to lose a set infront of millions of people? I wouldnt expect that against anyone, much less the guy he is chasing for the record Grand Slams victories..and it doesnt help that the guy is retired. I mean I expected him to play harder actually and take it to Sampras more along a 6-2 6-1 score. 2008 will be the year he breaks Sampras' record. And if not 2008 then early 2009 for sure. So this match, as meaningles as it was, was actually not meaningless at all. If he lost a set or even looked vulnerable at all people would be saying all kinds of crap. Federer had a chance to dominate Sampras and beat him to prove his point. I realize its an old Sampras but still. It the symbolism of it that matters. It was a good game. I never expected Pete to be in it really but he kept up for a part of the 1st set. After Federer went up 5-4 in the first though it was lights out and he cruised easily. Still, some flashes of great play from Pete, though he made a lot of mistakes with his groundstrokes. He served well with a few impessive aces. Will they have another one? |
