I see movers ALL the time. Anybody know of a foreigner-friendly one? OR...perhaps, someone who has a truck and would like to earn some extra cash to help me move? I'm in Anyang, moving to Gangnam. Thanks! |

A couple of weeks ago, I moved all my belongings from Sanbon to Hongdae for W45 000. I walked around my neighborhood looking for 'Bongo' trucks ('bongo-cha' in Korean, they're those little blue pickup trucks that are everywhere) I found a bunch of different trucks, wrote down their phone numbers got a Korean friend to call the different numbers to find one that was available. Hope this helps, and good luck with the move. |

im living in shindang and moving one station away. the main problem is im living in a rooftop house at the moment, 3rd floor, and my bigger new place is on the second floor. when i first moved here, we took everything up the stairs, so it all fits that way, but this time im pregnant and cant lift anything like that anymore. i need movers who not only move the stuff from one location to another, but carry it down the stairs for me, put it on the truck, then put it up some more stairs.
pain in the ass.... is it even possible to do without costing me an arm and a leg? or my firstborn? |

If you know what's good for you, you'll stay far away from Brandon. PM me if you need more information. Consider yourselves warned.
I wouldn't send my worst enemy to Brandon.
Sincerely,
V.

Yesterday I set up a moving time with Brandon for this morning at 10am for 70,000 won. At 10:05am I called him to see how late he was going to be. He was hungover and told me his uncle was going to help me move. He thanked me for being understanding of his situation.
Uncle shows up at 11am. We move all of my things from nearby Hanti Station to nearby Seoul National University of Education in 1 hour since the drive was only 10 minutes.
After unpacking the truck I pay uncle and I hop into the truck. Uncle says something to me in Korean that I didn't understand. I ask to go back to my home. Uncle calls Brandon so I speak with Brandon.
Brandon says it's Korean culture to not take a person back to their home after moving their things. I say I know that Korean culture includes "service" and asked that I be driven home considering I paid 70,000 and Brandon missed his appointment by 1 hour because he was too hungover to do a professional job.
Brandon says his uncle came to help me and that was his "service". Is Brandon on drugs? I always thought "service" meant you were getting extra... especially when a business screws up like in this case when Brandon was an hour late. Who knows how late he would have been had I not called him to wake him up.
Anyway, at that point I hung up the phone and got out of the truck. I'm disappointed that Brandon would miss an appointment by an hour because of a hangover, charge me the full price, and not have the courtesy to ask his uncle to drive me the 10 minutes back to my home as "service".
Good luck having success Brandon. |

If you're not in Seoul (like the person from Busan), ask a Korean friend, co-teacher or director to help you find someone. I had someone move all my stuff from Ulsan to Changwon for 100,000. He carried everything up and down all the stairs both times, though my new director and her husband did help unload. My minister's wife in Ulsan helped me set it up. |

That sounds just like Brandon. At least you got help from his uncle. My experience was a complete nightmare. It's so bad I don't think the mods would let me post my experience on here. Yes he is usually always drunk and hung over. You can be thankful he didn't show up. |

Those guys are expensive. If you don't have any furniture and you are moving some luggage and a few boxes then get a "Call Van". It is basically Van taxi service. To go across Seoul is only like 25,000w. The driver will help you with your boxes and things for an extra 10,000w. If you have friends that'll help you move, then 25,000 is pretty good.
Time doesn't matter and you can even call them the night before to pick you up in the morning. |
