There's an Austrian or German run deli below the Wolfhound pub in Itaewon (on the street behind Ghekos bar).
They have some decent ham, dried beef, pork and smoked stuff which is sliced to order, not pre-packaged. Prices are reasonable I think. They have some cheese too. Rare but pricy. |

a few places? wow that's helpful. i don't care so much about price. I haven't been able to make a decent sandwich in a long time, and I'm tired of paying 6-8,000won for one at Frankys |

| I buy mine at the little shop inside the hannam supermarket. It's located right outside the double doors that lead into the actual supermarket. He even has mortadella. |

The Austiran place under the wolfhound in Itaewon is great. They make their own bread, and it's excellent. I bought a toaster just for that sourdough. Also he grinds his own wursts and smokes a lot of stuff as well. No, I don't mean it like that. I mean he smokes duck and salmon and things. I mean...aw, hell.
Anyway, he and his wife are extremely nice people and while their selection of cheeses isn't that amazing the meats are superb. He does usually have gorgonzola, and always he'll have some really nice emmenthal, but nothing much for the Italian hards or the French softs. For that stuff the Hannam dude is better I suppose. |

You can get to Hannam Market a few different ways. I use two.
1. Take the subway to Hangangjin (sorry, can't remember the exit #), and walk away from Itaewon towards the large intersection with the pedestrian bridge. You want to cross the ped bridge and go to the other side of the road. You will be in front of a church and traditional vegetarian restaurant. Walk towards the Volvo building. Hannam Supermarket is underground (there is a big sign and a bowling pin outside so you can't miss it).
2. Take bus 420 and get off at Hannam Vocational School. It will drop you off right in front of the church and vegetarian restaurant, so just follow the same directions as mentioned above.
Inside the building, there is Hannam Market, Dandy's Grocery, and a deli/cheese shop. Dandy's has limes, sour cream, sliced turkey and ham,
breadcrumbs, bleu cheese dressing, Skoal tobacco, taco seasoning, to name a few of my regular purchases.
I have never bought anything from the deli, but the place has a lot of meats and cheeses.
Haddon House is about a 20 minute walk from Hannam Market, but has a better variety of produce, and also deli meat and cheeses. To get there, 2 different ways (again, the ways I use):
1. Take a bus to Nonhyeon Station. Get on at Nonhyeon Station bus 241. Get off at Okjung Middle School. You actually just pass Haddon House on the bus, so when you get off, turn around and walk back about 50 feet. Haddon house is in the basement of the big building on the corner.
2. You can also walk there from Hannam Market. What you want to do is make a left out of Hannam Market and walk about 15 minutes until you get to a big intersection (the bus stops are for Hannam-dong). Make a left up the big hill and you will pass about 12 embassies. You will see a bus stop for "Dangook University's back gate" right in front of a big hill with an apartment complex. You will have to go up the hill and when you go back down, just cross the street and Haddon House will be in the basement of the building on the corner.
If you want to find bus/subway routes on your own, this is a good site:
