This summer I stayed four months, overstayed my visa by a day, had no problems. Had a visa run in the middle where I also had an overstay by 1 day.
If you land in Thailand and get the 30 day visa, who is to stay you are going to stay in Thailand the whole time? You could simply say you're going to Cambodia for a bit and will get a new visa when you re-enter.
A person who sat with me on my way into Thailand planned to stay longer than 30 days and went with no pre-arranged visa. I dunno if she had problems though. |

I overstayed by a day and was lectured by an immigration officer and she stamped my passport. |
