today one boy was doing another boy's hair with gel during class.
this is high school! (a comprehensive high school at that-- shouldn't they be tough thugs?) |

It's a little disturbing isn't it? I teach 2nd grade in an all boys high school, and am constantly surprised at the high levels of touchy-feely-ness that is on show. They claim that their (Korean) age is 18, yet they find it perfectly natural to stroke each others hair and rest heads in each others laps! It's.... well, different. |

This afternoon, one of my boys was trying to make a show of something with, you know, the usual 'teacher, he steal my pen' carry on, the kind that boys everywhere tend to do.
Well, this one was insisting that 'teacher, teacher, he cheated on me!'
Now I found this funny but I have yet to find a Korean teacher at the school who understood what was unintentionally meant. |

I have a pair of boys who always cause me to stop in the middle of my sentences and try not to burst out laughing. (luckily they have a good sense of humour and don't take offense to my reactions)
One of them is nicknamed by the class "Mr Softears" and the other "Mr. I love Mr Softears" because the first one is always having his ears fondled by the second one. Its really funny, I have pictures but i dont know how to add them to a post (and they're on my computer at home)
seriously funny stuff! |

There are a couple of guys who try to challenge my authority every now and then. Being young at this game sometimes can be a bit of a pain. Anyway, I think that these kids would have more of a presence if they didn't act so femine. I mean come on, I'd be a hell of a lot more fearful of a kid if he didn't wear PINK MITTENS.
I often joked with my friend that somewhere along the way it seems as though guys get their nads cut off pretty early.
Prove me wrong Korea!
Then again this is a different country and so forth... |

^^^ oooh
Some of my male middle school students sit on each others laps and some can't stop touching or giving attention to each other.
Some even hold hands and even my vice-principal tried to hold my hand one time....!
Still not as bad as the mother on the bus yesterday with her 6YO son straddled over his mum's shoulder getting cuddled and held like a little 2YO baby.....the Mum seriosuly needs to let her son grow up and be a man....not that you find many of those in Korea, just control freaks and temper-tantrum children in adult bodies. |
