My would-be employers (who decided not to employ me at the last minute) have just told me that transferring the visa to a new employer through a letter of release is only allowed if the teacher has completed at least 60% of the duration of the initial contract.
Is this true?
They also said that they cancelled my visa - can they do this? I mean, is it possible under immigration law? |

I believe that is incorrect. I have just been hired to an after-school program that used the release letter from my previous employer to get out of having to send me to Japan for a new visa (They save money that way, of course). I had been working at my previous job for ten months.
I'm less certain, but I believe the school who provided you with your visa can cancel it. |

Key point. Ten months.
When I was fired at 4 months, immi told me you had to be 60% or 6 months through, can't recall which.
But if they've canceled your visa, don't worry about it. You can get another visa. |
