|
|
This may be a dumb question, but I'd rather not stumble into a store looking for something either isn't available or is available in a form that I won't be able to recognize. So, is it available here? If so, where do I get it and what form does it come in?
Thank you! |

I've only seen two kinds: 속편한 우유 (SokPyeonHan OoYoo) from Seoul 우유 and 소화가 잘되는 우유 from Maeil . as far as I know, there's no such thing as fat free AND lactose free. Lesser of two evils... ^^
Usually, Homever stocks the red one, Emart the blue one. Most stores carry either/or. |

^Isn't Lactaid a pill that you eat after dairy? I think it is a pill. Anyways, Koreans don't eat a lot of dairy, so I would imagine that no, you could not find Lactaid or a similar product. They do sell soy milk here in abundance if that helps you. Stock up on the pills (if you need) and bring them from home. |

Lactaid (without the word pills next to it) usually refers to just the lactose-free milk, though sometimes people mean the pills. The pills are usually referred to as lactaid pills. At least, that's been my experience.
I've seen lactose-free milk, but I just buy soymilk. I haven't seen any lactaid pills. Maybe you could have someone ship some to you if you wanted some? |

There's no Lactaid products in South Korea, thus the extreme fascination with all things related to crapping & diarrehea, giant toilet house in Suwon, automated crapper lids, multi-function of toilet paper, so on and so forth .... |

Lactaid is the enyzme which breaks down lactose. It can come in pill or liquid form. I am not sure where exactly it is that the word Lactaid is used primarily to refer to lactose-free milk, but that certainly isn't the case where I'm from. Perhaps that is a regional tag. Or perhaps the confusion lies in there being a brands of lactose-free milk that use the word Lactaid on the label. Whichever.
Regardless, sorry if I was somehow not clear here, but I was speaking about the medicine which allows one to digest lactose.
Soy milk helps, but I still like to have a nice cheesey pizza from time to time.
Is the concensus that no, I can't find Lactaid here? Or are people in here simply assuming that is the case? |

I tried searching for you - Lactaid is just Lactaid in Korean (they don't have a specific word for it) and nothing came up.
You probably need to buy online or ask someone to ship some over. |

Yup, for the pills or the drops, you're not likely to find it here.
And the confusion about lactaid being mostly about the milk I think comes from your second guess.. the brand of lactose-free milk called lactaid. |

just to clarify, the post I made earlier are TWO BRANDS of lactose-free milk...
Lactaid is a brand name. 속편한 우유 (SokPyeonHan OoYoo) and 소화가 잘되는 우유 are both brand names. If you click on the names above you'll see what the cartons look like and etc. |
