Sometimes, I have a hard time here because I get bored. But then I think; "hey, when I was back home, there were times when I was bored too." same-same.

You can't run away from your problems back home-they follow you everywhere. Adapt, adjust. It's a must.

Absolutely! Life is...life. And it can take some time before one is truly comfortable in a new place, but if you're comfortable in your own skin, the transition will be much faster.

Cheers to the OP for having such a great attitude about this!

Perhaps it is just me being anal retentive but am I missing something here or was this part typed in haste?

Great post, I enjoyed reading it. Lots of weigukin here, newbies and oldies alike, do need to lighten up. Hope that guy gets it; I'm sure he's just carrying lots of baggage in life.

Theres nothing like the ESL trade for throwing together polar opposite people that are just unlikely to get along anywhere. Here we have the clash of presumably idealistic young politically correct lone newbie, vs comfortable and settled old hand.

One hogwon I worked at you had the clash of supermodel hottie and jealous coworkers. We almost got an overlap showdown between 2 super hotties working alongside, but 1 left first.

Another one is older conscientous teacher vs alcaholic couldn't care less frat boy grad.

It usually ends up in an incestuous bitter rivalry over the few available english speaking korean co-workers.

Koreans are usually surprised to note that not all waeguks automatically get along with eachother, even if you stuff them into the same appartment block together. Quite often we're just too individualistic.

A few weeks ago I had a guy try the death stare on me. We were at a Crying Nut show and he was in the very back taking pictures. I took a picture in front of him and he got offended. I gave him the helpful advice that he should move closer, and he began the death stare. Weirdo sure took it seriously for such a bad photographer.

You're lucky 'cause I was thinking about feeding you my camera and asking you "Is it close enough now?"

Ha ha, that wasn't you, was it? If it was, you suck at photography.

But I strongly doubt it because you don't seem to know what happened next.

No, other way around. My elbow could've seriously hurt you if I wasn't wearing a jacket.

Anyway, in case it is you, here are three important rules for taking photos at shows:
1) If you want a good picture, you must be in a good location, close to the stage. If there are people in front of you they will ruin the picture.
2) The best way to get good pictures is to take a lot of pictures. Take 100 pictures of a band, so it won't matter if one is ruined. I had so many pictures that night ruined by someone raising an arm, but there were plenty more.
3) It is a chaotic environment, with people pushing around, jumping on top of you, spilling beer. Don't take it personally if someone accidentally gets in your way, bumps you, or spills something on you. It's a punk show, not a studio.

And an extra special tip:
4) Don't be rude to people if you are in unfamiliar surroundings. Within seconds you were surrounded by close friends of your opponent who work at the venue, who were fortunately not the violent type.

Ha, ha. Thanks for the tips.
