Hey everyone
I've been in Seoul, Korea for about a month now. Every now and then I'll be on the bus or sitting in a restuarant for dinner and hear a catchy tune playing on the radio or whatever. Does anyone know a site that might let me know what some of these catchy korean artists are? Some songs have gotten stuck in my head and are driving me nuts! I need to find them.
Thanks |

There is more traditional Korean music and dance outside of Korea than in Korea. I came expecting to observe and appreciate the arts more, but it just is not happening. I asked my Korean friends and K co-teachers about finding music, concerts, art exhibits, and such, but they said it is difficult. I did see one small traditional performance and several industrial technology convention exhibits which were interesting, but Korea lacks things to do outside of drinking, eating, talking, Internet, and mountain hiking. More arts and entertainment please.
However, they do play a lot of modern pop music in stores and buses like the OP mentioned. It is all available, but you need to read and speak Korean quite fluently to navigate music selections in stores as to know what you are buying or understanding how to know about the limited selection of concerts, particularly if you are outside of Seoul.
You can do a search on Youtube.com under Kpop or Korean traditional or just enter Korea for searching in music category to randomly find their music. |

Anyone else see them on TV? Holy smokes can they ever not sing. I mean I don't expect the average K-pop star to be able to sing that well anyway, but these girls were scraped off the bottom of the outside of the manure barrel. |

Hmm. Then how did I manage to buy CDs less than a month into my time here?
I actually like some Korean music, OP. My advice is to ask a friend to burn some MP3s for you. You can find some good stuff that way. |
