Its on the southern coast right near Changwon, but no beaches. It is famous for the Cherry Blossom festival during April. I don't know of their being any foreigner bars as I met people from Jinhae visiting Changwons foreign bars; people such as American military and engineers.
The area seems to be military and engineer oriented more so than English teachers, but has no real complaints I have ever heard of. |

Jinhae is a real nice little place. Right on the sea; home to the Korean Naval Academy. It's close in to Masan/Changwon/Busan. You should be happy there. |

Lived in Jinhae for a year. Not a bad place. It's quiet enough during the week, but close enough to everything if you need to get away. PM if you want to get in contact with any of the foreignors living in the city. |

We live there, sort of. We're actually right on the border between Busan and Jinhae. The biggest drawback to where we live is that there's no big grocery store. We have to go into town, either Lottemart in Jinhae proper or near Hadan, Busan to do our major grocery shopping.
The good parts are that it's quieter, the air is good, the scenery along the coast is pretty, and we have a nice apartment. Life is good there with a car - but might get boring without one. It depends on you and what you like to do.
Drop us a line once you move to the area if you want to have dinner. Anyone else in the area feel free to contact us too. (We live near near Yong-won, Busan: 용원.) |

I lived in Jinhae for 4 years. I really liked it. It's one of the nicest cities in the country, for the reasons other posters said. The ten days in early April during the Cherry Blossom Festival are not fun--too much traffic. But the Festival is fun the first year. You can catch a ferry to Geoje-do in Jinhae. Geoje-do is very pretty, especially the north end of the island. Shopping in Masan/Changwon is close by, and the bus to Hadan (west Busan) only takes 45 minutes.
Jinhae has a nice little downtown area with some good restaurants. The man and wife at the BBQ on McDonald street are very friendly. The man at the DVD shop on the main street at the T-intersection will order DVDs for you. The man and wife at the dak-galbi restaurant are very shy, but the food is good. I recommend the Nong-Hyup Bank branch there. The people are both friendly and competent--that is something I cannot say of the Kook-Min Bank branch. The traditional market (behind McDonald's) is extensive and fun. |

I lived in Jinhae many years ago and visited it during my sojorn in the ROK. I found the people to be friendly and the city to very clean when compared to Seoul. It seemed to me to be a good place to live. If I were going back. It would be high on my list of places to live. |
