I was wondering if the debit cards issued by the Korean banks can be used to pay bills online ?? Was hoping I wouldn't have to transfer so much money to my US Bank just to then go to Sallie Mae....

I did search "debit card/s" no luck -

All info appreciated....

We have several Korean accounts and Korean credit and debit cards, but we kept our American bank accounts and just transfer $ once a month.

Is this implying that you don't pay your US bills with SK debit cards?

-can't read in between the lines

I know almost everyone does transfer money home - I will be doing that as well - but what I would like to know is -

For Example: Could I go online and pay my Sallie Mae/Target Card/Credit Card - monthly dues online with my Korean Debit/Checking Account Card?

Again - thanks for the input - just was wanting to know to prepare when I get there in August....

Thank you !!!

ok this is to Missihippi since they also wanted some info

I was able to find this post back from 2006 hopefully you'll be able to read it. The post was confusing and not really clear - to me anyway - about debit cards being used like they do in the US - but I think I'll need to reread through it to understand it all again.

Hopefully you'll be able to get to it with this link :
