The battery life on the Zune really didn't impress me. While the screen is bigger, the battery sucks. It claims 30 hours, but reviewers are saying 22 hours. The video is only good for 3.5 hours.

After the reviews, I think I'd still go with a Zune 80 over a Classic 80. I was really disappointed with the sound quality on the Classic. However, it's a moot point for me now because I've got the Touch and the sound quality is roughly equal to my Cowon D2 (and the video is fantastic.)

Also, I really like how the Ipod handles playback of podcasts and video. There's no need to manually bookmark your spot if you stop playback and want to watch later (unlike my D2.) And if you listen to a lot of podcasts this is a godsend.

Video quality on the Touch is also quite good, and is simply light years better than on the Classic. However, there is a dearth of quality conversion programs so if you have a lot of divx content, you'll have to do a lot of searching around to get a good converter. (I eventually got fed up looking for a good free converter and bought Nero Recode, which is excellent.)

Well, that's all for now, more later.

one thing that I liked about the Ipod was that it started up right away, unless you haven't used it for a more than a day. my current mp3 player completely shuts down after about a minute and I have to wait about 30 seconds for it to boot up again. I miss having my ipod turning on straight away.
