Saddam had a great security service . Over the years the US has had ZERO success in combating mid east regimes or groups that were hostile to the US.

A coup against Saddam had as much chance as a coup against Kim Il Sung.

The US CIA is completely outclassed by the security services of mid east nations.

There wasn't a lot of right away success during the cold war it was still the correct thing. and the US got the better of the other side in the end.

The Cold War was actually all about stability.

This hot war in the Middle East is not.

I think that's a poor comparison. You are reaching here.
