The pressure is on for me to show the students a Christmas movie of some sort.
Not a change in hell that I am watching the same movie 22 periods over two weeks.
I've decided that they need to see some more traditional movies as well.
So far
The Wizard of Oz - original and colour.
Mary Poppins.
Bright Eyes
Miracle on 34th St.
Muppets Christmas Carol
The Night Before Christmas - all of them
Scrooger - 1935 and 1950
The Snowman
Babes in Toyland original with L&H

how about National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation?? possibly the best Christmas movie ever!
chevy chase gets hurt so much in the movie and does so many crazy things, the kids will love it
edit: and yes, it's PG-13, but probably best suited for MS and HS students |

I showed them a clip from the Wizard of Oz where Judy Garland is singing Somewhere over the Rainbow.
Girls loved it and the boys were shocked that it wasn't in colour. |

I second the Home Alone suggestion.
One and two are good... the third kind of pushed the envelope from ridiculous to just plain pointless.
A really good non-Christmas movie to show students is Cellular with Kim Basinger. My students (high school) are entranced by it. The dialogues are often very clear and it's really visual and entertaining.
Wouldn't suggest it for elementary kids, though...if that's your age group. |

Home Alone is ok but they have all seen it before.
None of them had seen Wizard of Oz other than the cartoon or Mary Poppins. We are meant to be teaching them culture as well.

Show them this clip and see what they say. |

All these are long movies, not ones I can show in a 40 minute class.
Does anyone know of any short Xmas movies that would be good? |

Have to split them across two lessons or let the KT use them in her lesson as well. |

Animated How the Grinch Stole Christmas is one of my favorite christmas movies. Though korean subititles would be essential since the English in it is a little unusual to say the least
Charlie Brown Christmas is good too
The claymation Rudolph is also fun.
All these are about an hour long |
