Was Morrissey right to affirm that England is losing its identity as a result of high immigration?

Morrissey allegedly said: "Although I don't have anything against people from other countries, the higher the influx into England the more the British identity disappears. So the price is enormous.

"If you travel to Germany, it's still absolutely Germany. If you travel to Sweden, it still has a Swedish identity.

"But travel to England and you have no idea where you are".

Curious: What are the percentages of immigrants in England, Germany and Sweden?

I looked it up and found this here: http://www.nationmaster.com/graph/imm_for_pop_inf_percap-foreign-population-inflow-per-capita

Germany: 7.87083 thousand per 1 million p

Sweden: 3.75472 thousand per 1 million p

UK: 4.77821 thousand per 1 million p (Couldn't find stats for England alone)

It looks to me like the guy is over-reacting. If Germany can still be Germany with significantly more immigrants per million, why can't England?

I suppose it's even more so for the US, Canada, South Africa, Australia, and New Zealand.

Immigrants drink tea and say "*beep*" like everyone else in the UK. I don't see any culture loss at all.

I've heard that Germany does not allow citizenship for children of immigrants born IN Germany. You have to have German parents by birth or something. I
ve also heard Germany has quite a number of Eastern European immigrants, re: Muslim, and that they've had issues assimilating. Perhaps Germany's size also helps, as people are not so concentrated together as in London.

Funny how Europe seems so different than Canada, and why that is. In Canada, children of Immigrants seem completely immersed into Canadian culture. But as a kid, I had a best friend from Pakistan, then from Nigeria (although he was mixed, other side Czech).

Immigrant children do better in school than Native Canadians, actually. What's up with Europe? I've actually heard this is true in the U.K. as well.

In England, from what I understand, a large number of immigrants have been fully assimilated in the English lifestyle. However, we've been hearing a lot about muslim immigrants recently.

In Germany, the largest number of immigrants are Turks who are brought in for labour. They are relegated from German society and generally live in Turkish ghettos.

The trend is that the UK is experiencing an increasing number of immigrants especially from Eastern Europe such as Poles, Bulgarians, Romanians etc... There are also more immigrants who dont have a very good grasp of English and, further more, dont require it in a labour based work environment.

That's a ridiculous exaggeration. Mozzer should stick to what he knows best - making mostly god-awful music. I do agree that European countries are way overpopulated though. It's ridiculous how countries like New Zealand with more sheep than people can turn away who they like but countries with 1000 people per square km are obliged to be safe havens for the world's disaffected. Europe is essentially a tribal area that has just recently begun allowing immigrants in significant numbers. If a man and a woman who love each other have rough spots getting used to living together in the same house, how many more rough spots are people who are ethnically different going to have? Europe is just going through a period of adjustment to the recent immigrants. As long as the right-wing bigots don't end up in charge, everything should turn out OK.

Morrisey sounds like the two Brits I used to work with. They used to whine endlessly about poor England. 'Even the damn Welsh get to have their own flag...' I stopped listening and soon stopped spending time with them. I don't think they are bad people just because they are provincial. Irritating, yes. Bad, no.

Just another example of a moron who thinks commercial success in his chosen field gives him the right to wax eloquent and foist his opinions about everything on the rest of the world. Get a doctorate in sociology or cultural anthroplogy, learn about statistics and the 78.45% of arguments they can solve, or put out a decent album, then we can talk.

Thank you Yata boy. If only Morrisey was blessed with the foresight to have a researched opinion...

Ya-ta Boy rarely has any real arguments and he rarely has facts he just calls people bigots and the Jerry Springer crowd subsequently drools. I support Europes right wing activists and I often send money to them. I support nativists.

I'll cross the line and say White People = Europe to and feel good about it too. I just don't accept non European immigrants as European. I really can't.

Have you alerted the EU about your feelings?

PS: How long are you going to hold a grudge for me calling you a third-rate troll? Look at how poorly worded your post is. BigVerne wouldn't let shoddy workmanship like that out in public. Where's your pride?
