Today I was informed that the computer teacher wanted to talk to me about computers, so I went to his office by the multi-sil. Hmmm, did I *beep* up another classroom computer, I wondered? Or maybe he wanted to show me something so that I wouldn't always have to send a student to fetch him when the classroom computer broke down, as has happened several times recently.

Nope. He wanted to show me the computer the school got for me. I had never asked for a new one, despite having a rather slow and old computer. My SOP is to choose my battles carefully, and whining about my computer is not something I'd do, even though I had thought about switching my staff room computer with the one in my home. 'latesta moedle' he informed me. It along with three new new monitors were sitting in the corner of his office.

I don't know how it was decided I'd get a new computer or who made the decision, but there's nothing like a workplaces that takes care of needs without you having to ask for them, is there?

Maybe they're glad to have you and want you to stick around for a while! I got a similar surprise recently when the school bought a projector, screen and speaker system for my classroom. I had mentioned it a few times, however. Very Happy

Have they tried setting you up with any nice Korean ladies? One of my coworkers made an introduction between me and a "temporary" teacher yesterday--he told me to come to the cafeteria because he had a friend for me to meet, asked us to sit down, introduced us, brought us coffee, and left us alone to chat.

I was completely taken by surprise!

She wasn't a hooker, she was a teacher! Laughing

(Apologies, I thought I'd made that clear)

There was one teacher in my county who threatened to quit the next day a brand new laptop appeared on her desk.

When I moved into my new apartment for my new job, my director had bought me all the furniture I had requested...not knowing whether or not any of it would be considered reasonable. Now I have a beautiful wing back reading chair, a tall bookcase and a rash of other things. It was a good feeling, especially after my prior experience.
