I've been wondering what the scene is like over here (I'm assuming it's *extremely* closeted).
From what I've heard from gay foreigners, particularly males, there are a lot of of Korean men who are closeted and having sex with male and female partners -- I've also heard some shocking things about the male bathouses.
Do you date Koreans? What's the scene? |

I've met a few gay Koreans. They are the most "straight" men I've met here. No pink hairbands with glitter, or sparkly hand-cream, or low-cut shirts. They are actually kind of butch.
And mostly they are in the closet. |

| I'm not gay, but fron what I've heard and seen from friends is that gay male westerners are even luckier with the locals than straight western males. |

I wish I was gay. Thoses dudes can score within minutes of entering a club.
Us straight guys have to work and work at it. |

Koreans will say "there are no gay people in Korea". But there are of course.
In Itaewon there are a couple of gay bars up on da hill, right next to each other. Sorry, can't remember the name now, but when I was there, it was mostly foreigners inside. I think it is best to keep your gayness on the down low in Korea. They are way too conservative for that.
HOWEVER, a lot of my Korean girl-friends have all told me that they would LOVE to have a gay friend. Maybe they are watching too much Will and Grace or something, but I have heard that SO many times. |
