I was perusing the job board and noticed that the university jobs I looked at are not asking for police checks or medical checks. What do you make of this? Do they know something we don't, or the other way around?

Most hogwons aren't asking for them either...and if a uni is advertizing an E-1 visa job, new regs don't apply...and no body really knows exactly what the new regs are, exactly...

It hasn't been formally announced yet as to what the regulations actually are going to be. The scrambling won't begin for another few weeks. For many unis, I imagine they won't run into trouble until February (if they don't learn of the new rules and prepare beforehand), when they start submitting papers for March new-hires.

I forwarded the Korean gov't website link I saw posted on here to my boss. We've got two new teachers coming in at my uni. The school can't say it hasn't been warned.

I had an interview at the Korean Air Force Academy, and when I mentioned the new visa regulations, they said that they hadn't heard about it.

My director had no idea until I informed her last Monday (she apparently didn't get (read) my e-mail from the week before).

I figured it would be worth their while knowing half the staff might not be able to return in the Spring. Also, the applicants they had just interviewed would be going through the same mess as well.

Apparently admin WAS aware of the changes and WERE NOT doing anything about it.

If what all of you are saying is true, a lot of uni positions might "suddenly" open up in the not too distant future. Positions that the uni's thought they had filled but suddenly realise that they don't. Should cause quite a sight. I hope some of the uni's that have turned me down for a job have to write back and say that they have "reconsidered" my application.
