I know it's short notice, but if you're hankering for a veggie-get-together, the Seoul Veggie Club has got you covered.

Sunday, 1:00 at Sanchon Restaurant, in Insadong. The restaurant is a bit hard to spot, as you have to find a sign on the main road, and then follow a winding alley, but it's absolutely worth a visit. It's Buddhist temple food, beautifully prepared and presented in an ornate, gorgeous setting.

The easiest way to get there for most people is Orange line 3 to the Anguk Station. Go straight out exit 6 till you get to the corner of the main Insadong street (there should be some veggie club members hanging around that exit from around 12:45 to 12:55 or so ...)

Or you could go to the corner and turn left onto the main street. It's about a 5 minute walk till you see their outlet store on the left ("Temple Food"...) Turn left and follow the winding side street all the way till it dead-ends at the Sanchon entrance...

The lunch price is like 19,500 won (give-or-take a few won...)

Insadong is a nice mellow part of Seoul to check out on Sundays ...

Thanks for the info! I'll try to make it.

Hello,

I would be really interested in coming for lunch & meeting new people. I am new to Korea (been here a week) and am living in Yongin.

As I havent done too much exploring outside of my area yet, is anyone coming from Suji and would like they to travel together?? Dont want to
be too blonde and get lost on my first trip!! Smile

I'm not exactly sure where Suji/Yongin is, but I think you probably first get on the Bundang yellow line and transfer to the Orange line (probably at its southernmost point, "Suseo" and heading toward "Daewha" ...)

Figure the travel time from Susseo (station 349) to Anguk station (328) will be about 2 minutes for each station it stops at - roughly 40 minutes (plus at least 5 minutes for every transfer...)

I'd suggest heading out around 11:45 (or 12:00 at the latest) and if you get to Anguk station early, there's a small information booth you'll see right near the corner as you walk out exit 6, and there's a large information place shortly after you turn left onto the main Insadong street (on the right side of the street.)

There will probably be some club members right near exit 6 shortly before 1pm, and I'll be hanging out (wearing a green, crumpled London Fog coat) near the Crown bakery which is right at the corner of Insadong street (about a minute walk from exit 6...)

The Sanchon is about an 8 - 10 minute slow walk from there, I think.

The cabbage man is cool. I'm thinking of turning vege or semi-veg myself. I'm so sick of eating fried chicken and samgyubsal. Maybe I'll just eat the ban-chan alone from now on Very Happy

The Sanchon gathering was very nice. The food was fine, and the restaurant - already one of the most beautiful in Korea - looked better than ever. I'm sorry I didn't bring my camera, but a couple members did bring theirs so maybe some pics will be forthcoming...
